Hello home

Kajsa Svensson

In the middle of Sölvesborg along a cobblestone street the marshmallow-like house rises and out comes a happy Kajsa. I had knocked on the wrong door and was on my way into the main entrance. Instead, I am greeted by a white-painted small glass porch with geraniums visible from the street. Svea, who is the latest addition to the family, winds his way around my legs and waves his tail eagerly. Kajsa Svensson lives here with her partner. Kajsa describes herself as happy and enterprising, is a period person when it comes to breakfast and thinks that everyday life is underestimated. Meet her here.

Hey Kajsa! How are you and what have you done today?
Hey! I feel good, thank you, except that the autumn fatigue made itself clear just this afternoon. I just got home from a day at the office. Outside it is dark and I have just lit the candles, started Melissa Horn and made myself a cup of tea.

It is absolutely impossible to miss your fantastic house that lights up like a pink piece of candy in the middle of Sölvesborg! Tell me more about it!
Haha, love the description. Yes, it really is a piece of candy. A large pink marshmallow. We love it. An old house since the beginning of the 20th century, which I have been completely in love with since childhood. Back then the principal of the school lived here and I thought it was so nice with all the geraniums in the hall. Feels unreal that we now live here!

Has it been difficult to get a big house?
Not really. None of us are particularly handy so it might be a little silly of us to buy such a large house that requires both a lot of love and care. But if you want, you can. So far, we have managed to paint, made simple renovations, made our way through a water leak and managed to keep Sölvesborg's largest fig tree alive. So we are happy!

How do you think about interior design, is it an important part for you?
Important and important, but I think it's damn fun. One's home is the safe point, where the day begins and ends. That it is cozy and pleasant here at home thus becomes important.

Next to your social media, you also run a clothing store with your family, what is it like to work so close to each other?
It is fun. Sometimes hard too, of course. It will never be a Friday dinner or family home evening without talking about web solutions, budgets or meetings. However, my mother has run the store since long before I was born, so it's more of a lifestyle. We've always had it that way. I am very grateful that we get the opportunity to create something so big and beautiful together.

What does a day look like for you?
A normal day starts at 07, when Svea crawls close by and wakes me up. After breakfast and a morning walk, it will be a full day at the office. I am there from 09-18 on a normal day. Then the stomach growls and the evening tiredness becomes apparent, and it's time to go home again. Makes dinner and kiss my boyfriend Filip. Trying to catch up with a series episode and a cup of tea before it's time to crawl to bed.

How would you describe yourself and how do you think others would describe you?
Oh, this was difficult. I see myself as happy, enterprising and funny. I'm one who can easily laugh at my own jokes. I believe and hope that others see me as kind and funny. That I am close to a smile and laughter, gives energy and a feel-good feeling.

What do you prefer to eat for breakfast?
When it comes to breakfast, I'm a real periodizer. Right now I have a sick craving for oat flakes with peanut butter, blueberries and cold crispy milk.

Autumn is here and soon Christmas too, how do you feel about it?
I absolutely love it. The Christmas star is already up and the other day I ate this year's first saffron bun. Then I know that for many it is a difficult time that is characterized by stress and anxiety, and it makes me sad. For me, Christmas is about a time that should be filled with peace, warmth, good food and coziness. No musts, just glories.

I'm happiest when ...
I'm free and home on a Friday. When the weekend does not contain any other plans than good Friday dinner and weekend coziness. Or on a trip with the family and all loved ones around me, on a sandy beach. Aaa, I can not imagine anything more glorious.

My best travel destination is ...
We are real Thai lovers. Our paradise we flee to when the cold and darkness are at their worst. There is nothing I love so much as eating sun-ripened mango on a longtail boat on Koh Lipe.

In the summer I go dressed in ...
Boyfriend's linen shirt, denim shorts and Birkenstock. Or a lovely loose dress. I love clothes you can wear both on the beach and at the summer party.

In my handbag you will find ...
Always my hairbrush - the most important thing of all. Wallet. Chewing gum. Poop bag to Svea. The camera, for the most part.

I never thought that ...
I would find love at home. That I would fall in love with the guy I've known all my life.

My best childhood memory is ...
All endless summer evenings at Perssons Brygga. My childhood home is a red wooden house next to the sea. We spent an incredible number of days down there, by the raft. Drank juice from such a plastic container with a ribbed lid and ate chocolate crackers until the sun went down. Then we stopped for a while for a night dip and had a barbecue down there. The best I have with me from childhood.

One thing that is underestimated is ...
The weekdays. Of course, it's still nice with routines. To have order and have time to reflect and plan. Weekly shopping. Cook good food and make lunch boxes. Maybe workout. Watch a series in the evenings without any hassle. Love it.
