Kvinna vid bord
Calm Art Print in dull shades with dark contrasts depicting a woman sitting at a table. The original is created with woodcuts where the motif is drawn on a wooden plate which is then sawn apart into a kind of puzzle. Each "puzzle piece" is then rolled with paint and pressed onto paper in a printing press.
"The motifs are taken from art history, they are paraphrases of works by Danish and international artists. They represent all women who do something. They walk, read the newspaper, work in the kitchen, etc. You can call them a tribute to women.” - Kristine Hellesoe

Kristine Hellesoe is a Danish artist who works with a wide variety of techniques, work tools and materials and therefore shifts between working with painting, linoleum printing, paper cutting and monotype. She is interested in how well-known motifs such as plants and flowers can be endlessly varied. Kristine finds inspiration in old patterned wallpaper, the shapes of flowers and plants, color combinations she stumbles upon by chance, light and shadows. Her work oscillates between an expressive and dynamic expression and the more poetic and silent. From color explosions to pure white. She often starts by creating some kind of chaos and then starts cleaning up with clean color surfaces, straight lines or repetition of shapes.
