Inside Used Icons' curated furniture warehouse

We recently stopped by the newly opened Used Icons showroom in Stockholm—a sun-drenched industrial space decorated with a soulful curation of designer furniture. Founded by Martin Trap and Leo Forsell (also co-founder of interior design company Arranging Things), Used Icons is an online marketplace for those who believe in furniture with history, character, and staying power. Through their website, users buy and sell pre-loved designer pieces without the hassle or uncertainty that usually comes with secondhand platforms. At their showroom they highlight their favorites along with other curated interior design products.

Q&A with Leo Forsell, founder and curator at Used Icons

What does “icon” mean to you?

I would say it’s something that stays relevant. Talking furniture it could be a wooden stool, an Italian 70s lamp or a really old folk art cabinet.

Do you see yourself as curators, retailers, or something else entirely?

I focus on finding things I enjoy having around me and things that I believe deserves more attention. People often need a helping hand to avoid just taking the expected path.

What makes a space feel finished to you—or is that even the goal?

A finished space is a boring space, right?

What are your personal favourite pieces currently available to shop?

I’d say the Crate lounge chairs, the Max Lamb bench, the old table made out wood from the floor of the opera house and the Perriand LC7 chair.

What feeling do you want someone to walk away with after visiting the showroom

Hopefully inspired and happy. Maybe we managed to spark a fun idea in your head.

A selection of art prints and frames from Wall of Art are available to shop at the Used Icons showroom in Stockholm.
