What is abstract art?
Abstract art is not limited to a single medium and can be found in a variety of forms, including painting, sculpture, and even architecture. It’s an art style in which the artist uses shapes, colors, and textures in a non-representational way, meaning that the art does not depict anything specific from reality. Abstract art is often characterized by an emphasis on form, color, and composition, rather than on the realistic representation of objects. It is a way for the artist to express emotions or ideas, which gives a lot of room for the viewer to interpret the work. A clear example of this is art inspired by the Rorschach test, a cognitive test in which the viewer himself or herself interprets what he or she sees from a black and white non-figurative visual shape. Among our artists, you can find Hanna Peterson and Lucrecia Rey Caro, whose art visualizes black minimalist illustrations. We appreciate the creative freedom given to artists in creating abstract paintings, which is reflected in our broad but well-selected range of art prints.
