Hello home, Emma Ranne

She lives in Helsinki, delivers beautiful and satisfying pictures and recipes through her instagram and is the founder of SUPPER CLUB. She invite strangers for a dinner at home, just amazing. Meet Emma Ranne.

Dear Emma, summer’s here, how are you feeling?
I’ve been feeling very good lately! I just came back to Helsinki after being away for a week and it’s like I’ve landed in summer paradise. The weather has been beautiful and just been living my best summer life going for morning dips in the sea, eating al fresco on the balcony and riding my bike around the city.

"The whole thing started as a post in my story asking if anyone would be up for a casual dinner party at mine and the rest is history"

Tell me about yourself!
My name is Emma, I’m 26 years old and I’m a content producer and food creative living in Helsinki.  I work in content/marketing and have always had a love for all things creative. My kitchen is my happy place and I love exploring flavor combinations and can talk about food for hours.

While discovering you I instantly got caught by your concept SUPPER CLUB. It’s just amazing. Share all the details!
Supper Club started as a late night thought in 2017. I was running a little food Insta account and had made some friends through it thinking it would be nice to share a meal ’’in the real world’’. The whole thing started as a post in my story asking if anyone would be up for a casual dinner party at mine and the rest is history.I have been running the supper club ever since inviting people into my home for dinner through Instagram. It brings me so much joy to see a group strangers turn into a warm group of new connections.

How come you’re interested in food?
I definitely feel like I inherited my fondness for food and cooking from my mum – she would always happily welcome me and my siblings into the kitchen and wouldn’t mind us making a mess when helping.

What’s the best thing about gathering a group of strangers?Seeing my guests by the end of the night engage with each other as if they’ve known each other for years.

What are your plans for the summer?
I recently started a new job which means I won’t have a lot of time off this summer. But I am not letting that stop me from doing all things summer! I am about to head to our summer cottage in the Åbo archipelago for the weekend and my only plans are to swim, sauna and do some summer cooking.

"I like to make little breakfast platters to make mornings at home feel a bit like starting the day in a cafe"

What is happiness to you?
I think what makes me happy is to try and let go of the idea of perfection. To me, happiness is about noticing the simple little things in life and allowing those moments to bring you joy. Not always easy, but I feel like it’s something you can get better at.

What’s your favorite dessert?
Tiramisu — haha this one is a no brainer for me!

Tell me your best breakfast!
I like to make little breakfast platters to make mornings at home feel a bit like starting the day in a cafe. Recently I’ve been into toasted buckwheat and millet bread drizzled with a bit of tahini and topped with banana coins. I also like to make yogurt bowls topped with berries, crushed linseed and buckwheat brittle. Oh and a sprinkle of cardamom. Always cardamom!

Last one, what do you dream of?
I dream of hosting a supper club night outside of Finland — I don’t know where but think it would be a lot of fun!
